Preschool-Kindergarten | Lower Elementary | Upper Elementary | Middle School | Sample Lesson Plans The Peace unit of our interfaith curriculum was originally designed with Christian Educators in mind. However, because it is non-devotional, lesson plans have been used by caregivers/families, interfaith centers/camps, and educators from other faith traditions. Each volume begins with an introductory lesson plan that explores the topic of peace in an age-appropriate manner. We also provide Review sections at the beginning of each lesson and Take-Home Opportunities at the end. Lesson plans are designed to last about 60 minutes but are easily modified for sessions lasting anywhere from 45-75 minutes. Our entire curriculum is grounded in the rich narratives found in the world’s religions/cultures. All the stories have been around for centuries and are routinely read to kids. The versions presented here were written by Vicki Garlock, so they are non-devotional and about the same length, but the overall story arc is not original. The crafts, called Creative Responses, use inexpensive supplies (and recyclables where possible) and provide opportunities for kids to share their unique interpretations. Activities are designed to explore the content of the lesson and/or cooperation among the group. If you want to read more about our approach to interfaith education, click here.
