Multifaith Monday 5/25/15

Last weekend, our Jewish friends celebrated Shavuot, a grain harvest festival that also commemorates God giving the Torah to the Israelites. Yesterday was also the Christian holy day of Pentecost, which is literally the Greek word for Shavuot. In the Christian tradition, Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus after his death. Later this week, our Baha’i friends will remember the Ascension of their founder, Baha’u’llah. And now on to interesting news items from the last several days.
