Seeking Peace Through Art: Islamabad’s Funkor Art Center

Children belonging to Pakistan’s minority religious communities are often members of the under-privileged class.

This week’s post, Seeking Peace Through Art, was published in March, 2015 for The Interfaith Observer.

My article highlights Fauzia Minallah, an award-winning Pakistani artist who uses her gifts to promote peace. Her vision began with Amai, an animated bird of light who turns into a shooting star. Soon after, she founded the Funkor Child Art Center, where she began working with Afghan children in Islamabad’s refugee camps. Interviewing Fauzia was a joy, and her heroic efforts to bring both reading and art to children is impressive.
